RIP CAGE AUSSIE ACTRESS,
ROXY CHINA, TALKS ABOUT THE FILM
"All the Sydney scenes are pretty
crucial to the whole script - it's very
cool..."
"Rip Cage is the
first international film I've done - and probably the
first on this scale. I've done heaps of local stuff - a lot of
student films and festival entries, a few professional
productions - not as many as I'd like. But hopefully that will
soon change. There's a few things filming in Australia right
now (like Superman for example) that I'm just keeping my
fingers crossed for a role in.
My character was
called "The Unknown Woman", which I thought meant I was
too insignificant to name, but then I read the script and they
later changed it to "The Mysterious Woman" and I kinda
realized my not having a name was a very thought out choice.
Actually, I haven't read the whole script - I don't know how
it ends yet And I wanna keep it that way, I wanna be
surprised. All the Sydney scenes are pretty crucial to the
whole script - it's very cool.
My little brothers
are all really into the whole thriller/horror genre. If
Rip Cage gets released in Australia, there will be definite
pride here. Australian audiences will love it. I mean, there's
all the cool special effects and stuff, but it's also very
story driven and the creep factor is defiantly hightened. Some
of the character stuff is also really interesting though. My
major scene is very poetic. Very, very cool. I've seen some of
the special effects and they are AWESOME!.
Jacque (Vickers) is
pretty awesome. I actually met her when she was making
a small documentary about actors finding work in Sydney - how
hard it was - and she remembered me. So, when this role came
up she offered it to me and I was like - YES!
Nicole Kidman's like
the most famous aussie and now with Rip Cage coming out
and me and Jacque being both the aussie's in it, it won't be
long before the world thinks Australian girls are all
red-heads.
Having an Australian
cast member or crew, it's like the film industry's
lucky rabbit foot. Just look at Saw. I'm just so proud of who
I am and where I come from. A lot of actors here complain
about the lack of work, but the work is there, you just have
to put in more effort to find it. It's less competitive and
actors really support each other, which I like.
I just finished up on
a play at the Sydney Theatre Company - a play called
'Far Away' - very Alice in Wonderland-esque. The play was a
bit weird. We were actually performing right next door to Cate
Blanchett. same theatre, one door down.
Maybe some amazing
director will see me in Rip Cage and have me move to
Hollywood - that would be cool. Oh, or if I'm lucky I could
get a job on an aussie soap... Fingers
crossed..."
